Corporate gifts in South Africa work best when they are useful and carry your brand neatly, and laser engraving does that permanently on pens, notebooks, tumblers, power banks, bamboo and leather. LaserEngraver.co.za is a free quote referral service: you fill in one form with the items, quantities and your logo, and we pass it to independent engravers, branding houses and corporate gift suppliers who quote you directly. We do not engrave or sell anything ourselves, and there is no fee or obligation to accept a quote.
Branded corporate gifts that get used
Laser branding cuts into the surface or removes a coating, so it does not peel or wash off like a print. Popular branded corporate gifts include:
- Metal pens and pen sets, engraved with a logo or a name on the barrel
- Notebooks and journals with bamboo, cork or PU leather covers
- Powder coated steel tumblers and water bottles, engraved down to bright steel
- Bamboo power banks, wireless chargers, USB drives and desk organisers
- Leather and leatherette card holders, keyrings and laptop sleeves, see leather engraving
- Glassware and whisky sets for client gifts, see glass engraving
- Wooden gift boxes and hampers with an engraved lid
Year-end, staff and client gifts
The busy season runs from October to mid December, when year-end functions, staff gifts and client thank-yous all land at once. Suppliers in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Pretoria and Durban fill their engraving queues early, so request quotes by September for large orders. Staff welcome packs, long-service awards and conference giveaways run all year. For a one-off gift with a personal name, see personalised gifts, and for formal recognition, trophies and awards.
What affects the price
The item itself is usually most of the cost. Engraving adds roughly R15 to R60 per item for a single logo position, with a once-off set-up or artwork fee of R150 to R600. Quantity breaks are significant: 25 pens may cost R65 each engraved, while 250 might drop to R38. Engraving a different name on every item adds a little per piece, and a second position, gift box or sleeve adds more. As a guide, branded corporate gifts run from about R45 to R180 per item for pens and keyrings, and R180 to R650 for tumblers, notebooks and leather.
Artwork, proofs and lead times
Send your logo as a vector file (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF with outlines). Laser engraving is one tone, so colour logos are converted to a single shade and fine gradients are simplified. Ask for a digital proof showing logo size and position on each item, and approve it in writing. Typical lead times are 5 to 10 working days for stock items, longer in peak season or when items are imported. For bespoke shapes, ask about laser cut wooden or acrylic pieces.
What to include in your request
- List each item and the quantity of each
- Attach your logo as a vector file
- Say if every item needs a different name
- Give the date you need the gifts delivered
- Mention gift boxes or packaging needed
